Third Cabinet Meeting
Lions International News
Join us in Oxnard for the Third Cabinet Meeting on February 28, 2015. We will be meeting at Food Share, the backbone of charitable food distribution for Ventura County. This is an under-appreciated organization and well worth learning about. Word of warning, however: We will be meeting in their warehouse where they store canned goods and it is kept refrigerated. It's not cold, but it is cool. Dress warmly. Grab the reservation form, get directions and enjoy.PDG Bill Fuller (Nancy) 1968-1969 Camarillo Somis Pleasant Valley Lions 13587 Bluewing Way, Riverton, UT 84065-6316 (H) (201)-254-5510 (E) firstname.lastname@example.org
With Great Sorrow
It is a sad time for the Arroyo Grande Lions Club. Lion President Leonard (Lenny) Mansell passed away last Sunday morning. A service will be held at Mount Carmel Lutheran Church at 1701 Fredericks St., San Luis Obispo, CA. at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 17th.
There will be a get together with food after the service with the location being announced at the church. Since we need a head count, if you are interested in coming to the get together please contact Terry Orton at email@example.com or by cell at 805-441-0167.
We Lost Another
Lion PDG Bill Fuller (DG 1968-69) from the Pleasant Valley Lions passed away last week. He had been living in Utah for quite some time.
Sandwich Board Grant
Lion 1VDG Richard Davis has secured a grant to allow clubs to purchase sandwich boards to advertise their events. These are VERY reasonable prices for excellent signs. Please take a look at Lion Richard's email plus the pictures at the bottom.
List Your Event
We have a new procedure for listing your events -- an all-in-one email address that is sent automatically to the District Secretary, District Webmaster and Google Calendar Coordinator. Just send your information and flyers to firstname.lastname@example.org. If any any other district officer would like to be on the list, please email your request to the same address and we'll oblige you. You'll get lots of email.
If you are thinking of holding an event, don't see any conflicts on the District Calendar but want to know if there might be any conflicts on your prospective date, please put "Planning" in the subject line so we'll know not to post it. You can also list several prospective dates and ask for guidance as to which would have the fewest confilicts. Lion District Secretary Denise Daniel will get back to you shortly with guidance.
When you send event listings, please include the important information in the body of the email and then attach flyers in PDF, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, RTF or JPG format. We will attempt to get all listings up within a week. If you have an emergency and need faster posting, please put "Urgent" in the subject.
Help Grow a Forest
The USDA Forest Service had a Penny Pines program where you can help the reforestation of Southern California forests. For about $68 you can sponsor an acre of forest. Lion IPDG Dick Kane had approved this as a District activity. See the attached flyer for more information.
If you have an event you'd like to put on our calendar, use the link at the bottom of every page on the site. If you wish to post a flyer along with the announcement, include the content of the flyer in Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF or JPG format and sent it as an attachment to email@example.com
